Job Description

Entry level flight simulator technician position.

At GDIT people are differentiators. As a Electronics Tech your role is to maintain and repair flight training devices in accordance with requirements and company standards. Flight simulator technician will be working under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor. Essential elements of the job include performing preventive maintenance on flight simulation training devices (FSTDs), computer and network troubleshooting and repair.

HOW AN ELECTRONICS TECHNITION WILL MAKE AN IMPACT AND THEIR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Under the direction of a senior technician or supervisor, maintain Training Devices, ensuring that devices are ready for training use. Performing preventative maintenance functions. Conducing troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities on training devices. Performing training device updates (Software and Hardware).
  • Corrects identified discrepancies by troubleshooting electronics, computers, computer networks, visual, pneumatics, and mechanical systems to component level.
  • Installs, replaces, cleans, repairs, and services various equipment including visual generation/display systems, computers, computer networks, motion systems, electronic circuit boards, and circuits to component level.
  • Operates and maintains PC’s, and various other host and satellite computers and networks.
  • Performs periodic maintenance and diagnostics on computer and peripheral equipment.
  • Accomplishes general inspections, pre-flight, morning readiness, and post-flight checks.
  • Accomplishes software archiving functions.
  • Practices safety conscious behaviors in all processes and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment and conducting routine inventory updates.
  • Participate in technical training as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED SUCCEED

Education

  • Associates Degree preferred but not required
  • High School/GED required

Qualifications:

  • Electronics or computer repair experience.
  • Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 50 lbs).
  • Must be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment; able to work variable shifts, including evenings/weekends and rotating shifts.
  • Able to obtain a Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required

Skills and Attributes Preferred:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, network technologies and applications.
  • Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications.
  • Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently.
  • Ability to operate and maintain common hand tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide great customer service in a military environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to take direction from senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Excellent organizational skills
