Job Description

Network Engineer Sr Advisor

Summary:  Designs, plans and builds communications networks. Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements. 

 

Job Description: 

  • Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative. 

  • Provides expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.  

  • Provides expert knowledge for network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.  

  • Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.  

  • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.  

  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. 

  • Maintains current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.  

  • Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.  

  • Provides expert guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel. 

  • May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager) 

  • May consult with executives and customers to deliver complex network solutions.  

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific technology. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience 

 

Recommended Certifications: 

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or CASP. 

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)  

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)  

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification - Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP desired
