Join GDIT and be part of the team of men and woman that solve the world’s most complex technical challenges. The NCIS team is searching for a System Administrator Sr. (Field Computer Specialist) to join their program at the NCIS Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Washington, DC.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of over 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.
NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world. NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings.
The Digital Business Directorate (DBD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
Responsibilities:
This position is part of the IT Technology Services Center within the NCIS DBD organization and performs the following functions:
Helps diagnose and resolve computer-related problems as requested by employees and contractors, either in person or by using remote control software for 12 sites
Responsible for 7x24 day-to-day operations of mission critical systems and services
Responds to telephone calls and email requests for technical support
Assists with the disposal of IT equipment (DRMO)
Analyzes, troubleshoots, resolves, and documents problems with business applications and hardware on all enclaves
Performs Tier 1-3 functions and is expected to resolve or assist in resolving complex issues
Familiarity with operating and updating VMware ESXi hypervisor in an enterprise environment
Management and maintenance of Windows Server 2016/2019 Operating Systems
Management of Windows File Servers to include permissions management, user support, and backup & recovery efforts
Familiarity with Group Policy Objects and direct management of related Active Directory objects
Experience with IP address management to include DHCP scoping and subnet assignments
CISCO network switch and router experience to include configurations, daily maintenance, iOS upgrades, and overall troubleshooting
Familiarity with VTC endpoints for both desktop and conference room suites; includes deployment and management
Familiarity with DOD STIG process for workstation, servers, and network devices
Experience with COMSEC systems to include TACLANEs, KIVs, and SECNETS for troubleshooting and re-keying as required
Familiarity with troubleshooting VPN tunnels
Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources
Oversees system recovery mechanisms
Leverages experience to provide input to improvements (People, Process, Tools, Technical)
Exhibits the capability to resolve issues independently
Coordinates, communicates, escalates required changes and major issues
Brief Senior Leadership on all IT issues affecting the AOR
Accurately documents all work, inventory, and system changes in ServiceNow
Qualifications
5+ years of experience providing Tier 1-3 support and functions
Bachelors degree (may be substituted for additional years of experience)
Required: current DoD 8570 - IAT Level II (GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, or CCNA-Security)
Required: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) to start
Required: Top Secret clearance is required to start, must be eligible to obtain SCI-level adjudication
Experience in a military environment is a plus
