GDIT is seeking a Technical Writer/Communications Specialist to join our team in support of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Office of Financial Resources (OFR) to implement an Acquisition Management System (AMS).   GDIT will acquire, configure, implement, and provide go-live support, providing a low-code commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution.

To implement the AMS, the overall team will be engaged in all aspects of the deployment from requirements gathering, architectural design, software configuration and development, testing, implementation and deployment support, change management, training, data migration, data management, and post go-live support. 

This position is for full time employment with GDIT.  Business hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.  All work is remote with travel as requested to Atlanta, GA locations at both GDIT (2 Corporate Blvd., Suite 100 Atlanta, GA 30329) and CDC (2939 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, GA 30341). 


  • Write technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions.
  • May assist in layout work.
  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
  • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
  • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
  • Provide continual training on a new system as well as new functionality as they are made available in order for users to efficiently use the system.
  • Perform key communication activities and be motivated to adopt the new software quickly and to confidently explore new functionality in the future.
  • Provide software training that drives employee adoption from the outset and becomes part of an inherent change management process designed to reduce barriers to learning.
  • Provides training and support services for Appian product including training for CDC AMS end users and administrators.
  • Perform needs assessment, the training delivery method, manuals, timing for the roll-out of the new AMS modules, and other resources needed to meet business requirements.
  • Use new innovative formats and approaches and are based on the needs of the different user types.
  • Implement training methods that include self-guided through their computers (i.e., web-based training or computer-based training); job aids; or a hybrid/blended training model that contains online and offline elements that integrate a combination of e-learning modules, instructor-led courseware, train the trainer (designated trainers) session, online discussion boards, and supplemental resources.
  • Develop and survey participants and use their feedback for continuous quality improvement of training products.



  • BA/BS and 5+ years (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to obtain public trust clearance
