We are seeking a Network Engineer with military SATCOM experience that is able to work independently – please read below!
Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, SATCOM, and data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures
Is part of a team with personnel located throughout the Southwest Asia (SWA). Will be required to support customers at local and remote sites.
Will be required to perform desktop support, systems, information assurance and logistics duties.
Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
Analyzes network topologies, traffic and capacity requirements.
Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
May perform network administration duties.
May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required
5+ years of experience.
Must possess and maintain a Secret Clearance.
BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a visa based on the country requirements.
Must be able to pass requirements necessary to be medically cleared by the USCENTCOM Clinic or a third party vendor, within a reasonable time period, as determined at the sole discretion of the customer. This includes meeting medical, dental, and psychological requirements, being able to obtain all required immunizations, and not being in a high risk status for COVID-19 as defined by the customer.
This position is deemed a DoD IA Workforce, IAT Level III position and requires 8570/8140 compliance. A candidate must meet the following requirements:
Baseline – CASP+ ce, CCNP Security, or CISSP.
Compute – valid Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP.
Expert knowledge of SATCOM & LOS fundamentals and hardware including VSAT terminals up to 2.4m.
Provide expert operations and maintenance support of SATCOM systems including but not limited to antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA), Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA)/Low-Noise Block downconverter (LNB), up and down converters, Frequency-Division multiple access (FDMA)/Time division multiple access (TDMA) modems (military and commercial).
Knowledge of Spacecraft acquisition, peak and pole antenna and microwave Point-To-Point alignment.
Bandwidth Management to include knowledge of satellite modems, data, symbol rates, link budgets and Cambium microwave PTP management.
Assist with repair, break/fix troubleshooting and maintenance support, planning, and oversight for SATCOM and PTP Microwave Network Services.
Perform troubleshooting and isolation of US BICES SATCOM/microwave related problems, for all active RF terminals using specialized test and diagnostic equipment, e.g. Spectrum Analyzer.
Conduct tests of SATCOM/Network hardware to ensure readiness and availability, for quick deployment.
Recommend process improvements in the areas of obtaining, installing, testing, utilizing, and maintaining satellite, network and frequency-based communications.
Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features
Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast
Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work
Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously
Must possess a valid US passport and US driver’s license.
Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
Must obtain ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation within six months of hire.
Experience operating in deployed environments preferred.
Selected candidate must be willing to travel throughout the Middle East. Travel may be via commercial or military transport. Modes of transport include, but are not limited to; car, truck, armored vehicle, fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
The position will be based or Afghanistan. There is no guarantee at which base in Afghanistan the position will be located. The position may be relocated at any time within the country of Afghanistan to meet mission support requirements. Work location/rotation of locations will be at the Site Lead’s discretion.
This position may be required to complete short-term deployments to austere locations worldwide. Candidate will be expected to live alongside deployed military personnel in military provided accommodation. Housing options include, but are not limited to; open bay tents and multi-personnel containerized housing units “CHUs”.
This position is supporting a fluid military missions. You may be required to relocate (temporarily or permanently) to different operating locations within the CENTCOM AOR.
The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
Completed CCNP Routing and Switching or CCNP Enterprise
Knowledge and experience with VoIP/collaboration systems
Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices. Knowledge of DoD Communications Security (COMSEC) procedures. Firefly Key loading via SKL, DMD and COMSEC Key destruction. Familiarity with the operation of MILSATCOM encryption devices (KG-250, KG-250x, KIV-7HS, KIV-7M, KG-94, KG-175).
Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
Knowledge and experience with data center networking
Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets
Understanding of network virtualization
Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course
Understanding of VxRail Manager and best practices
VDI experience highly desired
