GDIT is seeking a Senior Network Architect to help support our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next-Gen (JSP ETM - NG) program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite.
This position is Contingent upon contract funding.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex problems with highly innovative solutions
Provides expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks
Provides expert knowledge for maintaining network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability
Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks
Designs and builds hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks
Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
Consults with executives and customers to deliver complex network solutions
Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.
Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements
May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
May serve as a team or task lead
Recognized as an industry leader in network engineering
Data Center experience
Required Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance
5+ years primary role operating, troubleshooting, installing network routers and switches
5+ years primary role directly designing, architecting routed and switched networks up to and including enterprise sized networking solutions.
2+ years as senior or lead engineer in planning, designing, and building software defined networks
3+ years DoD environment
At least one nationally recognized certification for senior network administrators/engineers/architects tied to the proposed solution’s routers and switches
IAT Level II in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M
IAT Level II certification
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering or Equivalent; Master’s degree preferred
Configuring and installing various network devices and services
Monitoring network performance and resource utilization, trending, capacity planning
Use of current and emergent network design principles and protocols
Experience with network virtualization technologies
Experience with multi-tenant network architectures
Familiarity with a width variety network routing and switching equipment devices from multiple vendors
Scripting languages such as Pearl, Python, coding for network threshold events.
