GDIT is seeking a Planet IRM Engineer to help support the JSP ETM program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
The Planet IRM Engineer will use their knowledge of inside plant and outside plant cabling infrastructures to provide support for the configuration management database Planet IRM application. Job duties may include but are not limited to:
Update Planet database with completed MAC and project information
Extract relevant information from Remedy and DARTS systems
Provide connectivity worksheets and drawings to design engineers as required
Work with MAC and project teams to resolve discrepancies
Daily update of work logs to document work completed
Perform onsite surveys of equipment and cables for input into Planet database
Designs, plans and builds communications networks.
Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.
Plans implementation of enhancements.
Active Secret Clearance
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
Minimum 5 years of hands-on or design experience with structured cabling systems
Experience with cabling infrastructures
Experience configuring routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to communicate effectively
Problem analysis and problem solving
Attention to detail and accuracy
AutoCAD and MicroStation expertise
