Job Duties:

  • Contribute to a team of systems engineers in accomplishment of system and segment engineering tasks in an iterative development environment.
  • Provide technical direction and clarification of requirements and design to the software development teams and Integration teams.
  • Display extensive and substantial practical knowledge and experience of the System Architect area and provide guidance to others including junior engineers encountering unusual situations.
  • Apply scientific and mathematical knowledge when performing engineering tasks.
  • Assist in lifecycle definition activities at system or system element level as well as assist with definition and understanding of system functionality.
  • Use systems thinking to contribute to enterprise technology development activities.
  • Use common techniques to propose, define or challenge arguments and conclusions, with guidance.
  • Interpret and use outcomes of modeling and analysis.
  • Attends technical interchange meetings with the team members and other program personnel, and represent the organization in matters pertaining to the development of the project.
  • Provide status on assigned tasks
  • Lead document reviews and resolve technical systems engineering and integration issues.
  • Communicate and interface with customer, Program Management, Technical leads and Subject Matter Experts to provide program status and to jointly present, lead, and work program issues, and technical solutions.
  • Ensure that assessment of new performance work requests include all stakeholders, are properly sized, and submitted on time to the customer per the required contractual delivery date
  • Ensure that all authorized performance work requests are completed on time and within budget, the implementation is ready for deployment to customer test organization or Production, and integrated into the PRPS II operations and maintenance baseline.
  • Understand all applicable performance standards and ensure that all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise on all issues, performance work requests, system improvement efforts, and operations and maintenance activities.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work experience
  • 15+ years of experience in system architecture.
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance and design principles
  • Experience conducting system architecture in systems that interact with external entities.
  • Experience guiding projects and/or programs consisting of SE/SW development
  • Experience helping to define and documenting enterprise-level policies, procedures, guidance and best practice for systems thinking activities, including associated tools.
  • Experience reviewing the outputs of systems modeling and analysis, ensuring the results can be used for the intended purpose.
  • Ability to decompose and communicate system architecture and governance concepts
  • Ability to help create a vision and lead a team to implement common principles across the enterprise
  • Ability to determine solutions compliant with system performance, availability and reliability constraints
  • Experience in SE process development and deployment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with management and individual contributors on the program team.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
