GDIT is looking for an experienced QA Analyst with business analysis and strong analytical skills and understanding of databases to join our team, which support the NEDSS (National Electronic Disease Surveillance System) project for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Quality Assurance Analyst must be skilled in problem solving, communication and analysis. For this project, we develop, maintain, and support the NBS (NEDSS Base System), a web-based disease surveillance system used by public health jurisdictions to collect and analyze disease occurrence data, as well as to report this data to the CDC. Team members support key processes in the development and support of the NBS application using an Agile development process.
Position is for contract work with the option of full-time employment with GDIT if the candidate proves to be a good fit long-term with the team. The position is based out of the GDIT office in Atlanta, GA (Brookhaven), with the potential for some ‘work from home’ days. Due to covid, work is performed remote currently, but when offices open, the candidate will be required to work at the office location a few days a week.
The QA/Business Analyst will plan, coordinate, analyze and develop test plans, scripts, test cases and test data for functional testing ensuring that the requirements are met.
Translate functional requirements and specifications into documented test plans
Execute functional test plans manually and conduct explatory testing
Backend database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including validating stored procedures, jobs and triggers
Identify potential quality issues and escalate/report issues in a timely manner
Ensure software deliverables are meeting functional specifications and requirements
Analyze business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems.
Represent the business unit to define requirements and business cases for the technology developments.
Coordinate with business and technology teams ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of user acceptance and coordinate testing, and system techniques and controls.
Utilize knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflow.
Draft system process flows
Facilitate/coordinate requirement gathering sessions with partners, O&M, Client Stakeholders - Prepare high-level requirements for the extended team
Create and track QA reports; Review and ensure that the verification and validation was in accordance to the system, functional, and product requirements and ensure the requirements traceability matrix is updated
Work with Client to prepare system documentation needed for the project
Required skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience. (Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area is preferred)
5+ years of relevant QA experience in software development
5+ years of experience in database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including creating and manipulating test data
Strong understanding of database structures and design
Experience in documenting testing processes
Experience testing in agile teams and java based application systems
In depth experience working amongst development teams, project management and stakeholders
Experience writing and executing SQL query commands
Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
Desired skills and experience:
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database environments
Experience working in an Agile development team is preferred
Experience in converting from manual test cases to automated test scripts (Selenium) is a plus
Experience in creating and executing test of ETL/SSIS processes
