As a System Technician supporting the Southern Maryland user base and remotely helping other users from diverse locations within General Dynamics Information Technology, you will be trusted to work on different models of computers servers, routers, and switches.

A typical day in the life of a GDIT Systems Technician:

  • Be an Information Technology liaison between Enterprise Technology Services and Solutions (ETSS) leadership and program/project managers in need of hardware and software support
  • Provide technical support for publication development solutions and interface with Department of Defense (DoD) customers in support of hardware and software conflicts
  • Manage, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues with other Enterprise Information Technology Solutions teams and provide cognitive reporting to these teams
  • Provide concise documentation for all incident responses and maintain all tickets within service level objective standards
  • Develop and maintain dashboards of vulnerability scanning protocols to keep workstations and servers at or above policy standards
  • Understand and follow policy and work instructions related to information assurance and cyber security standards related to computer systems and operations
  • Collaborating with the user base to solve and help to advance contractual obligations and challenges.

In order to be consider for this role, you must have:

  • Five (5) years minimum of related IT experience plus an AA Degree OR Seven (7) years related IT experience in lieu of an Associate’s Degree
  • Basic IT knowledge (Windows OS, Servers, Switches and Routers, Network Infrastructure and Configuration)
  • Experience with Ticketing Systems such as ServiceNow or SRM
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as needed by GDIT Leadership; this could include, but not limited to, working tickets for other teams and divisions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; US citizenship required
