GDIT, is seeking Cloud Architect/Engineer to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAAs) National Centers for Environmental Information to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAAs) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
This position is significant because it will enable NCEI to transition from on-premises Government-owned IT-based operations to the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF). The NCCF is based on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The migration will involve refactoring and re-engineering of custom software applications. Options may range from containerization to re-implementation in the form of customer-configured AWS native services. The target environment is expected to include Kubernetes, Docker, AWS S3, EKS, ECS, and RDS.
The Cloud Architect / Engineer will:
Participate on the distributed federal-contractor team that is collecting technical information and planning the migration
Perform engineering analysis of NCEI’s custom software applications
Create architecture documentation as needed
Provide recommendations based on the AWS 7-R approach to decision analysis
Provide recommendations relevant to planning the NCEI system migrations
Interact with team members to solve day-to-day issues
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
Demonstrated experience with performing AWS 7-R analysis, or similar analyses
Demonstrated experience with refactoring or re-engineering custom-developed software systems for deployment and operation within the AWS environment
Experience using Linux and Windows operating systems
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Current or recent AWS Certified Developer Associate and/or AWS Certified Database Specialty certifications
Familiarity with traditional and Agile project management methodologies
Familiarity with Google G-Suite applications
Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
