We are seeking a Senior Data Systems Analyst.The Senior Data Systems Analyst supports the execution of data analysis operations throughout the reporting and analysis life cycle. The analyst will work with data analysts and systems analysts to design and implement reporting products using the Tableau platform.Duties include:

    Job Responsibilities

    The Senior Systems/Data Analyst supports the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Division of Budget and Data, in Washington, DC. Duties include:

  • Provide data analysis reports for State Submitted data.
  • Provide data analysis for Refugee data on an ad hoc basis.
  • Assist in preparing documents for the ORR5 data collection process.
  • Assist in preparing budget documentation for the Office of the Director and Budget director.
  • Develop reports in Tableau Desktop for multiple divisions across ORR:
    • Work with the analysts to collect the requirements and business rules for the desired reports. 
    • Write the SQL extract queries for the required data. 
    • Implement the requirements using Tableau calculated fields, groups, sets and filters. 
  • Design the implementation of the Tableau Server for ORR. 
  • Administer the RADS Tableau Server including: creating Sites, Projects, Groups, Users, setting access permissions, publishing data sources and publishing workbooks. 
  • Write SQL queries to extract data for new data analysis reports.
  • Extract data weekly for the various Tableau reports and publish the data to the Tableau Server.
  • Create documentation and presentations.
  • Provide ongoing training for data analysts and systems analysts on development of worksheets and dashboards in Tableau.
  • Assist data analysts with data preparation to create data sources for use in Tableau.
  • Education

    Requires BS/BA degree

    Qualifications

    Requires BA/BS with at least 8 years of experience in database administration and data analysis

    Experience with the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in a government agency

    Expert user of Tableau, SQL, MS Office (Excel and Access)

    Excellent analytical and writing skills

    Strong verbal communication skills

    Highly motivated and collaborative
    Knowledge of ORR’s populations, refugee programs and services

  • Work with Tableau technical support to troubleshoot issues on the Tableau Server and in Tableau Desktop.
  • Create governance processes and procedures. 
  • Provide technical support to members of the ORR / Refugee divisions and ORR / UAC division. 
  • Manage the Tableau user group and provide technical assistance to Tableau users.
  • Support data collection, analysis and visualization projects as needed, including data modeling, database creation, and technical support.

Vaccination requirements will depend on the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements.

The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
