In this role, a typical day will include:
Plans, develops, tests, implements, monitors, documents, and improves the performance of database systems of high complexity
Performs complex database evaluations and reviews and optimizes database configurations and access
Proactively monitors database performance and capacity and resolves performance or capacity issues.
Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
Research and fact-finding to develop or modify database structures
Provides support for database implementation and periodic maintenance releases as required
Provides technical input to assist in development of tasks related to Database Administration during sprint planning and backlog refinement sessions
Work with the Data Architecture team to ensure databases are synchronized across the environments
Ability to run advisory analysis and test candidate indexes to support and suggest query performance
Explain plans for application SQL and provide areas of improvement to the development teams. Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
Maintains RDBMS software at appropriate vendor-supported levels
Works closely with Central Database Administration team on various items related to reviews, implementation, standards, compliance, operational support, backup and disaster recovery
Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience
5 years of DBA experience on IBM Mainframe DB2, preferably V11 and/or V12, automating and facilitating database management
Experience with BMC and IBM DB2 utilities and tools such as SPUFI, JCL, TSO, and FILE AID
Hands on experience coding JCL’s, parameters, load cards for unloads, loads, load dummy etc.
Experience using Endeavor for JCL builds for version control and change management
US citizen or a Green Card holder
Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience
Knowledge of and experience with z/OS operating system, utilities, file system, kernel, memory management & security on RDBMS
Deep knowledge of IBM DB2 LUW and Oracle database administration at the design, operational and system levels
Experience tuning complex database systems at the application, database and system levels
Thorough knowledge of and experience with database security, backup, recovery and archiving
Experience/understanding of Tivoli scheduling tool
Experience working in a collaborative, cross functional team environment
Experience facilitating meetings and peer reviews
