HOW A TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN III WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Install the passive infrastructure to include equipment racks/cabinets, patch panels, switches (no programming), uninterrupted power supplies, power distribution units, grounding/bonding systems, cable trays, ducts, EMT/Flex conduit and pathways, ceiling stringers/j-hooks, other wall mounted raceway and connector boxes and hanging/support systems.
Install and terminate single and multimode fiber optic cable using unicam, anaerobic and fusion spliced connectors. Install and terminate CAT5e and Cat6 copper cable.
Take user requirement and design/engineer a technical solution and parts list to include equipment, cable types and color, connectors, and faceplates.
In the Technical solution, provide a man-hour estimate for the installation and manpower requirement to accomplish the work.
Update drawings and connectivity cut-sheets.
Update project status and job log.
Monitor supply process to ensure parts are ordered, shipped, inventoried and the customer is invoiced.
Individual should have experience installing the above systems along with experience working with fiber and copper cabling.
Must be able to work on a ladder, crawl under floors, above ceilings.
Use of both common hand tools and powered tools.
Familiar with Fluke test equipment to test cables after installation.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Associates of Arts/Associates of Science
Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience
Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI
Work requires travel, which can go up to 3 months or longer with no travel home during the work effort. (Normally 3-4 weeks).
May require travel on weekends.
