Our work depends on a Cloud DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer joining our team remotely to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) activities.

At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Cloud DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer  supporting CMS, you will be trusted to maintain all of the system cloud non-production and production environments. A typical day will include:

  • Performing day to day AWS system administration; environment monitoring and support; troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Developing and managing infrastructure environment using various AWS cloud services
  • Creating automation scripts for provisioning, decommissioning, deploying services, and patching activities, using continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Understanding and contributing to solutions within the existing architecture
  • Managing development repositories, builds secure automation and application deployment
  • Working with AWS support to escalate problems and identify product limitation solutions
  • Identifying potential scaling issues and helping to define how to monitor and fix them
  • Delivering continuous improvement of scripts and templates for reproducible deployments
  • Participating in release activities and on-call rotation of 24x7x365 environment as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience as an Amazon Web Services (AWS) System Administrator using AWS FedRamp or Private Cloud Edition (PCE) for control plane
  • Experience supporting high available/high traffic websites, preferably across multiple data centers
  • Experience deploying automation infrastructure by using the AWS Cloud Formation techniques
  • Experience integrating with Microservices as a SaaS
  • Experience with load balancers, configuration management tools, such as GitHub and Jenkins, and common networking equipment
  • Experience with Blue/Green, Canary, and Rolling deployment strategies
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, DevSecOps/DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with common open-source infrastructure tools
  • Familiarity with monitoring technologies, such as NewRelic and Splunk
  • Strong knowledge of common Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Debian, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of internet and networking protocols such as DNS, HTTP, and TCP/IP
  • Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Candidate must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.


  • US citizen or a Green Card holder
  • AWS certification(s)
  • Health Care Industry or CMS experience
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub
  • Ability to work independently and interact regularly with government and non-government stakeholders at multiple levels of authority
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences

The likely salary range for this position is $103,272 - $172,453, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
