GDIT is seeking a Lead Installation Field Engineer to help support our TO35 activities.

NOTE: This position is contingent upon contract re-award and funding.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conducts sites surveys; assesses and documents current site network configuration and user requirements.
  • Prepares drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
  • Prepares site installation and test reports.
  • Assists with the production of engineering documents
  • Escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution. 
  • Analyzes and implements communications standards and protocols according to site requirements
  • Install telecommunication equipment and associated devices for circuit activation/upgrade
  • Complete circuit cabling/wiring between commercial equipment, site OSP, and DISA devices

  • Install, troubleshoot, and test telecommunication circuits ranging from T-1 to 100G Ethernet utilizing visual fault isolators, optical power meters, bit error rate test sets, and other similar test equipment required to isolate circuit issues

  • Install, configure, and activate circuits utilizing crypto equipment; KG experience is desired

  • Perform network hardware equipment installation for replacement and upgrades on existing DoDIN devices

  • Provide technical documentation and other administrative support for projects associated with installations

  • Installs telecommunication equipment racks, ladder trays, and fiber distribution trays to support various devices and cable mediums; to include fiber optic, copper, DC power, and ground cable
  • Performs network hardware equipment installation for replacement and upgrades on existing DoDIN devices
  • Leads junior field engineers and trains as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Active (or Interim) DoD Secret Clearance. Candidates without a clearance will be considered contingent upon their ability to complete the clearance process.
  • Associate of Science Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 3 years experience
  • Willing to travel, as over 75% travel is required for this role
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of network and telecommunications or other electronic devices
  • Familiarity with the DISN and DoDIN installation standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
