GDIT s military health team is HIRING a Senior Physician Consultant to support the 59th Medical Wing (MDW), located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assists research directors with clinical research program planning and execution.
  • Presents director with research strategies to streamline and improve delivery of clinical care.
  • Stays abreast of new developments and technologies of military relevance to the emergency medicine, trauma and integrated clinical medicine.
  • Manages and reviews medical writing of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports.
  • Assists with development, design, and execution of large and complex research projects, reviews progress, analyses data and evaluates results.
  • Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.
  • Develop presentation materials, research Standard Operating Procedures, and present findings at technical and professional meetings.
  • Provide support in development of establishment of in vivo model systems, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Provides clinical training and oversight to staff as needed for experimental preclinical and clinical protocols on relevant medical procedures and techniques.
  • Co-authors/authors scientific publications; presents at meetings and conferences; participates in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals.
  • Writing preclinical and clinical protocols.
  • Manages and reviews medical writing of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports.

What You’ll Need (required):

  • MD or DO.
  • Requires current valid US medical license.
  • 4+ years’ minimum relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated publication and presentation record.
  • Proven expertise in conducting preclinical and clinical research.
  • Must successfully complete AALAS accreditation training for working with laboratory animals and remain current.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain CITI training for research projects involving human subjects.
  • 4+ years of experience as principal investigator for translation and clinical science research.
  • Expert level clinical data interpretation.
  • Experience in process improvement and medical treatment facility patient care and safety regulations.
  • May require occasional weekend and evening hours.
