The AEGIS Chief Architect is a technology thought leader, responsible for the integrity of the GDIT AEGIS solution incorporating communications, data center and cybersecurity service components into an enterprise-wide common ecosystem. A visionary engineer who constantly challenges the status quo and pulses the industry for emerging technology, the Chief Architect provides the technical leadership and evolves the AEGIS solution architecture to apply best-available technology to the ever-changing needs of NASA Mission and corporate users. The Chief Architect is a key member of the AEGIS Transformation Advisory Council.
Successful candidate is expected to:
Serve as the principal IT expert to provide technical expertise and guidance for the design, development, and implementation of the GDIT AEGIS solution capabilities, features and products to successfully operate and enhance NASA communications, compute and IT security;
Leverage leading-edge IT solutions to improve the customer's mission effectiveness while continuously seeking opportunities to increase efficiency through improved processes and technology;
Lead the research, analysis, engineering and implementation planning of the GDIT AEGIS solution to ensure long-term solution integrity and continuous advancement of the AEGIS capabilities;
Develop technical, operational and transition strategy for the AEGIS system and process components and present it to the GDIT Program Manager and customer stakeholders;
Serve as the top technical advisor to the Program and customer executives for the overall technical architecture, systems design, and component functionality capable of communicating complex technical subject matter within the NASA Mission, business and program context;
Serve as the top technical authority for the GDIT program engineering and operations teams, formulating and consistently communicating technical priorities and adjudicating complex decisions;
Coordinate technical and strategic planning with the engineering teams to ensure technical projects and associated tasks can be completed on schedule and within budget.
Education and Experience Sought
Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related technical discipline required; Graduate (MS/MA) or Post-Graduate (PhD, DMA) Technical Degree highly desired;
At least 15 years of progressively responsible technical leadership experience related to IT infrastructure, communications, networking, or non-software systems integration;
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex IT solutions in a large-scale enterprise;
Extensive experience leading technical teams within large, complex, geographically distributed environments, able to motivate and engage with distributed teams working related tasks, and providing technical support and guidance during the configuration through implementation phases of large complex infrastructure migration or non-software systems integration projects;
Experience providing technical expertise and analysis support of infrastructure and communications architectures, systems, and related cyber initiatives;
Experience in the delivery of innovations to successfully lead the contract in transformation activities;
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to clearly articulate technical messages to technical and non-technical audiences;
ITIL v3/v4 Foundations certification or higher;
Ability to drive cross-team initiatives balancing technical, mission and resource management priorities.
