GDIT/TSS is seeking a Systems Engineer Advisor to join our team in support of TSS who are upgrading and modernizing to the latest cloud technologies. This role will supervise a team of Systems Engineers. In this role you will be designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise systems in an on-premises environment.
This opportunity will be located at the ITC in Bossier City, La.
The Systems Engineer Advisor will identify, evaluate, architect and recommend best of breed technology approaches to solve the business and customer problems. This role will interface directly with the customers and internal stakeholders to gather requirements, deliver solutions, identify and deliver incremental revenue opportunities. This role will also supervise, mentor and hire other Systems Engineers on the team.
Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during deployment.
Provide and execute a process to ensure compliance with customer’s configuration baselines. In addition, quarterly review of the configuration baseline must be completed with recommendations to the customer based on best practices and CIS benchmarks/guidelines.
Provide communication, ensuring that managers, team members, stakeholders within the organization, and clients are kept informed of relevant trends and projects.
Provide and execute a process that continuously monitors and troubleshoots operating system performance.
Capture and provide daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly metrics related to system performance on both a system and application level
Provide and execute a process to monitor and troubleshoot Active Directory performance / Unix Directory Services / LDAP.
Work to troubleshoot/resolve issues for Active Directory / Unix Directory Services.
Provide and execute a process to update Active Directory Schema via a DevSecOps methodology.
Provide and execute a process to Implement GPO changes. This deliverable must be completed via a DevSecOps methodology.
Complete root cause analysis of issues related to Active Directory / Unix Directory Services and take appropriate corrective action including opening and coordinating tickets with vendors.
Build servers following established build procedures. Provide recommendations for enhancements to server build procedures quarterly.
Deal with escalations. Make assessments, recommendations or provide solutions to resolve issues.
Make emergency and quarterly recommendations on capacity planning on both an application and a system level
Mentor and train staff, ensuring they are up to speed on critical processes and technologies related to the organizations’ goals and soft skills needed to succeed.
Required skills and experience:
BA/BS and 8+ years of experience. (Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area is preferred)
Either RHEL or Windows enterprise experience
