The product manager is responsible for conducting market research, validating customers, talking with customers, managing and foreseeing CPRIT’s long-term vision, and communicating with external stakeholders. The product manager is responsible for driving the product strategy and monitoring the whole product lifecycle starting from market research, customer development. The product manager is expected to have an in-depth understanding of the product and the needs of the customer, and is responsible for the following:
Is strategically focused
Tracks the overall market and competitive dynamics.
Is a product evangelist and champion, a product visionary
Is a market research guru, identifies market needs
Develops the business case for new products and major enhancements to existing products
Evaluates the current state of success of products, and help validate that we’re building the right things, and contribute to the company’s goals and strategy for future products.
Is Customer facing, external and internal communication stakeholder
Is an expert on the Product and Customer
Attends iteration demos and some standups.
Owns vision and roadmaps, as well as the program backlog
Drives PI objectives and release content via prioritized features and enablers
Establishes and writes feature acceptance criteria
Demonstrates the latest iterations to customers (pre-release) and gathers feedback
