The SQL Administrator will be responsible for maintaining daily operation and problem resolution of SQL related systems on the network, operating systems, and the many automated systems and databases it accesses. This person will maintain the existing databases and design, structure, and maintain additional databases as required supporting new applications. Duties and responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following:
Assist with management of the organizations software application portfolio in the DON Application & Database Management System (DADMS). Assist users with processing DADMS application requests and submit applications requests into the DADMS review process.
Schedule and perform daily database backups, perform database recoveries as required, and ensure the integrity of the data in all customer databases.
Build, configure, patch, and upgrade database as required and with prior Government coordination following the security technical information guidance (STIG).
Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues between the database and the systems that are connected to the database. Provides technical support to application development teams.
Perform database tuning and performance monitoring. Optimize database efficiency and monitor usage and storage daily.
Maintain documentation related to design, development testing and implementation of the databases, including details on customization and/or configuration, codes, scripts, and in support of certification and accreditation requirements.
Assist service desk personnel to ensure all required data is captured in the Government provided management database.
Provide training for Department of Navy (DON) Application and Database Management System (DADMS).
Manage and maintain all required security level/posture of all MS SQL Servers. Ensure servers are Information Assurance (IA) compliant to the latest policies and standards (i.e. STIG, IAVA, etc.)
Document and generate report on all changes applied to MS SQL Servers.
Provide assistance in the processing and submission of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) for MS SQL Servers.
Provide recommendation on industry best practices in the use of MS SQL Server and upcoming trends in database design, implementation and sustainment.
Manage and maintain all database backup and recovery.
Perform auditing, base lining/enhancing/optimizing/tuning (especially index tuning and custom statistics), monitoring and troubleshooting.
Plan configuration changes, future workloads, and future system resources that are aligned to government mission and goals.
Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or an equivalent technical degree from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years of expert experience with providing SQL database design and technical support, assistance and training for data management, analysis, interoperability, database/dashboard design and development, data standardization and maintenance.

Information Assurance Technician (IAT) -or- Information Assurance Manager (IAM) I, II or III
Demonstrating experience working with various versions of SQL, experience with data migration and security, as well as expertise with supporting the entire SQL Server.
Demonstrating experience with provide Microsoft SQL support, including installation, configuring SQL clustering, monitoring, optimization, backup, and security support.
Experienced in performing Lifecycle support for application, web and database development.
Knowledge of SQL scripting, stored procedures, functions, triggers, replication, installation and configuration.
Experience in Microsoft .NET programming (C# or VB.NET).
In-depth knowledge and experience of Windows O/S, distributed computing architecture (client-server), networking, storage area network (SAN), and Virtualization (Hyper-V and VMware).
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar technical field.
