At GDIT, we get work done. As a Systems Engineer supporting the Customer, a typical day will include:
Managing and monitoring all installed systems, networks, and infrastructure
Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, networks, application software and system management tools
Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
Participate in the design of information and operational support system
Provide trouble-shooting support, and interface with vendors and other IT support personnel for problem resolution
Provide support and technical expertise in system and network technology, including servers, appliances, applications, virtual and physical environments, and solutions integrations
Support the efforts to deploy SecDevOps, Infrastructure as Code and automation efforts across the service area
Establish and document baselines to measure service performance and capability across a global enterprise
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related business or technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
10 years experience
Possess working experience and technical expertise in a specific or multiple areas of Enterprise IT networking and hosting architectures
Experience with virtualization and containerization
Experience with monitoring systems
Experience with automation software
Solid scripting skills
Solid networking knowledge
Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
Effective communication and time management skills
Detailed knowledge of relevant government regulations and standards
Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance, with Polygraph
