Job Description

GDIT MAINES contract has a requirement for an experienced Citrix NetScaler Load Balancer to join our Network and Security Operations team on the ITS-EPA IV Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) Contract in support of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Task Responsibilities:

  • Perform local and global load balancing changes
  • Troubleshoot local and global load balancing
  • Perform cloud implementation tasks and troubleshoot as needed
  • Update diagrams for network architecture using Microsoft Visio
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN/Cloud circuit issues with managed service provider
  • Submit and respond to tickets using a central ticketing system such as ServiceNow
  • Provide reports as needed using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Submit and perform changes in the agency system
  • Provide outage notifications and update outage reports
  • Trouble shoot routing issues in EIGRP, BGP and static configurations
  • Assign IP addresses using the agency IPAM system / Provide subnet assignments as required
  • Perform network traces to analyze traffic issues
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
  • Other duties may include, packet capture and analysis, change management, and inventory management processes.
  • Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects.
  • Has frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
  • Provides technical solutions in the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters and servers.
  • Evaluates existing network systems to ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements.
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network. Responds to issues based on standard operating procedures and direct instruction.
  • Creates, maintains and deletes user accounts.
  • Supports the planning, installation and maintenance of network systems for multiple classifications.
  • May provide installation, maintenance and repair of network hardware and software.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA and 3 - 5 years Citrix NetScaler experience or 11 years Citrix NetScaler experience
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in Cloud and Load-Balancing implementation.
  • Experience with load balancing solution - Citrix ADC (preferred)
  • Experience with cloud technologies - AWS and Azure
  • Must have an understanding of DHCP and DNS interaction with servers and client systems
  • Experience with Pulse secure remote access is a plus
  • Experience using a central ticketing system such as ServiceNow
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio for drawings
  • Experience following a change management system to submit and perform changes
  • Use of a network monitoring system to alert via SNMP on device failures
  • Ability to use Wire Shark to obtain network traces and perform analysis
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Public Trust
  • Must be able to have a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE Computer), access to the EPA VPN, and access to a VDI Pro machine furnished by VDI
  • Must be able to work remotely
  • Must be able to work independently

Preferred qualifications but not required:

  • Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Understanding of cloud technologies, AWS network experience a plus
  • Strong background in Network and Security

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $96,000 - $144,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
