TSS Database Analyst Advisor

• GDIT Technology Shared Services (TSS) is looking for passionate, skilled and driven Database Analyst Advisors to help our Technology Shared Services (TSS) Applications team with building solutions and driving value to our customers. Our ideal candidate will have experience with designing, documenting, deploying, securing, and supporting Oracle and/or SQL clusters, server nodes, standalone servers, and databases in a DoD network.  Additionally, they will be familiar with Agile methodology, traditional ITSM methodologies, and have a strong desire for designing/releasing quality solutions.

  Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes customer requirements and develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Applies knowledge of API (Application Programing Interface) for data services and databases
  • Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates, installs and administers database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management
  • Designs and implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods
  • Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation
  • Defines and oversees database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation
  • May provide technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced database personnel
  • May serve as a team or task leader

  Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of experience supporting Oracle and/or SQL databases
  • Strong organization and time management skills while working in a rapid solution deployment environment
  • Must be able to identify and learn new technologies quickly
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

  Desired Experience:

  • Experience migrating on-premise databases into cloud-based solutions
  • Experience supporting AWS Oracle and/or SQL RDS deployments
  • Experience applying STIG configurations and DoD Risk Management Framework controls in cloud-based solutions
  • Experience supporting multi-tenant Oracle and/or SQL database clusters/servers
