Network Engineer

Responsibilities

Designs, installs and maintains the network system and coordinates its use. Maintains and reviews system and security logs. Evaluates hardware and software and peripheral equipment for simple networks. Manages network performance. Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network. Maintains, creates/deletes user accounts, maintains and updates system security plans on most platforms. Administers network policies, procedures and standards. Enforces security procedures. Network duties include performing configuration, administration, troubleshooting and support of Cisco networking devices, WAN/LAN optimization systems, VoIP/RoIP/Video, and encryption devices.  Technical skills related to numerous networking technologies including but not limited to: EIGRP, route redistribution, route filtering, Multicast, QoS, NBAR, GRE tunnels, Layer 2/3 switching, interVLAN routing, NAT, VPNs Spanning Tree, standard/extended ACLs, TACACS, Solarwinds, Riverbeds, and encryption devices. Some general Systems Administration is required. Systems duties include; performs the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software. Maintains system security and executes practices and procedures, monitors usage statistics and logs, monitors and remedies attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files. Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings. Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures.  Troubleshoots system related problems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• CCNA Required , CCNP Preferred
• DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred)
• Experience with Enterprise Email (MS Exchange 2010 & 2013)
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory administration and Windows Server platforms (2008/2012R2)
• Experience with server virtualization (VMWare VCP5 or Microsoft Hyper-V)
• Experience with management of Storage Area Networking environments
• Experience with Enterprise-Level backup and restoration concepts and products
• Understanding of the Cisco UCS integrated infrastructure and Flexpod Data Center solutions
• Core Routing and Switching: EIGRP, GRE tunnels, InterVLAN routing, redistribution, ACLs, Multicast, QoS, NBAR, NAT, VPN, Layer 2/3 switching, HSRP, Spanning tree
• Supplement Routing and Switching: TACACS, VoIP (Cisco Call Manager), RoIP (Wave), LAN/WAN optimization (Riverbed), monitoring solutions (Solarwinds/NetMRI), encryption devices (KG175, KG250, etc)
• Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Experience
• Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
• Solid worth ethic and the ability to work in a mission critical environment
• Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• ITILv3 Foundation certification
• CCNP

Security Requirements

• Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance

Work Environment

• The work environment for this position is office and server room
• Travel in and around Germany to maintain systems and network equipment is required

Education and Certification Requirements

• BA/BS or equivalent 6 - 8 yrs. of experience
• ITIL v3 Certification required
• DoDI 8570.01m Certification required
