Be a part of the men and women that solve some of the worlds most complex technical challenges! General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Sr. SQL Database Analyst to support the Navy Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana.

Duties include:

  • Contributes to the improvement and creation of DBA policies, procedures, and standards

  • Providing technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new major, large scale, production systems/databases

  • Diagnosing highly complex and integrated systems/databases such as system configuration, application design and application code

  • Structured approach in problem resolution

  • Conducts research and prepares recommendations for database tools, software, and/or hardware requirements.

  • Provides database assistance and problem support to application developers, business analysts, and business users.

  • Analyzes system performance to plan for capacity management and scalability.

  • Development of SQL procedures, triggers, views, functions, and reports to support enhancement to critical SQL based business systems.

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate data integrity issues.

  • Monitor systems and proactively manages and maintains configurations to ensure performance, availability, and stability.

  • Submits recommendations for solutions that require the definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and require data security and data backup and recovery specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree: additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 5+ years of directly related experience in database administration and analysis

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 & 2017 (2019 a plus).

  • In depth knowledge of SQL internals (latches, system waits, resource allocation, data dictionary, table and index storage and access parameters)

  • Advanced T-SQL skills

  • Strong Microsoft SQL query optimization and index management.

  • Adept at Transactional Replication, including setup, troubleshooting, and creating replication scripts.

  • Strong understanding of Windows Clustering, Always-On, and Partitioning.

  • Able to implement Disaster Recovery methods.

  • Experience with 3rd Party monitoring tools, including but not limited to SQL Sentry Monitoring and SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA).

  • Ability to review developer code to assure SQL best practices and to identify areas of inefficient query structures.

  • Defining database architectures and strategies to meet application availability, scalability, and performance requirements

  • Understanding of back end, server, and API development, including application and database/data development and architectures.

  • SECRET security clearance
