Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs administration duties for networking hardware including routers, switches, network interface cards, networking cables, modems, ISDN adapters, firewalls and other related network hardware

  • Must have firm grasp and knowledge of fiber and copper-based Ethernet technologies, capabilities and cabling and their connectivity to local and wide area networks

  • Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques

  • Experience with SolarWinds or other NMS tools

  • Installs and configures network hardware and software

  • Provides network troubleshooting and support

  • Provides technical support and training to end-users

  • Administers network security

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with network infrastructure and/ or components.


  • Shall possess advanced planning, troubleshooting and maintenance skills on the Microsoft server platform and CISCO router, switch and firewall configuration and SONET configuration/architecture

  • (MCSE/MCSA) Will have a strong understanding of technology integration and information flow including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, storage, and backup methodologies

  • Knowledge of specific product lines (Cisco, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Tripwire)

  • Understand the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Certification & Accreditation process and Information Assurance requirements.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network troubleshooting and support

  • Comprehensive knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software

  • Comprehensive knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications

  • Experience with GD TACLANE or other HAIPE devices is preferred

  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and IOS/ IOS-XE network devices

  • Experience with Cisco UCM is preferred

  • Experience with OSPF and other dynamic routing protocols

  • Experience with multicast traffic using BSR/ PIM

Education and Experience:

  • Position requires a minimum BA or BS degree in Network management or a related field.

  • Position requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience in Network architecture design and implementation


  • Computing Environment (CE) certification: Can start with your Network+, CCNA, or CCNP (Data Center, Routing and Switching, or Security)

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent required

  • DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II Certified

Security Clearance

  • Top Secret Security Clearance, required.


  • Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity.

  • Occasional travel to areas in support of military training and exercises.  Must have a valid driver’s license.
