GDIT is seeking a Senior Cloud Native Application Development Solutions Architect to join our Growth organization and help drive the technical solutions needed to win our most complex and strategic deals. You will serve as a senior GDIT thought leader for cloud native application development related technologies and be responsible for engaging with our programs, technical and growth teams as well as potential customers to develop cloud migration and cloud native modernization strategies, solutions and architectures based on their unique requirements and priorities. As a thought leader, you will write white papers, speak at industry events and act a leader within the technical community. Additionally, you will assist in crafting responses to Request for Information (RFI’s) and Request for Proposals (RFP’s) helping to shape customer acquisitions, and positioning GDIT to win.  We offer a fast-paced, highly-dynamic and collaborative environment in which self-motivated, strategic thought leaders earn executive recognition and challenging opportunities.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a thought leader and technical expert within GDIT’s Application Services Service Area and Center of Excellence (COE) with deep experience as a cloud native application development consultant with hands-on expertise designing and developing cloud native applications, migrating applications to commercial cloud vendors, architecting and automating modern Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD) software supply chain solutions, and implementing container orchestration solutions. This includes a focus on industry standard application containerization and orchestration solutions (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes) and modern cloud platforms (i.e. AWS, MS Azure)
  • Engage with Program teams and customers and advise them on container adoption and cloud native design principles
  • Engage with Growth teams and advise them on strategies and solutions to meet unique Federal requirements for managing, transforming, and sustaining application modernization projects which improve our chance to win new business and identify growth opportunities on existing programs
  • Write whitepapers, blogs, marketing and sales artifacts, RFI’s and RFP responses
  • Identify, engage with and manage relationships with key and emerging container orchestration vendors and partners
  • Speak at tradeshows and industry events
  • Engage with members of GDIT’s technical community of interest (COI) acting as a mentor and coach to junior software supply chain automation engineers
  • Lead solution design and the development of key artifacts including, but not limited to architectural models, design artifacts, process diagrams, concepts of operation, etc.
  • Develop unsolicited technical recommendations, collateral and RFI/SSN responses to engage prospective customers and position GDIT to win
  • Collaborate with GDIT technical service areas and lines of business to identify and bring the best technical strategies and solutions to differentiate GDIT
  • Review proposals and provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution and proposals in areas related to application modernization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Information technology or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience successfully architecting technical solutions and providing technical leadership on complex capture pursuits and proposals
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing cloud native applications:
  • Designing and developing stateless, containerized applications
    • Industry standard Cloud platforms and services (e.g. AWS, Azure)
    • Container orchestration platforms and solution stack implementations (e.g. Red Hat OpenShift, DockerEE, EKS, etc.)
    • Hands-on implementing end-to-end Test, Build, Deployment and Application Monitoring CI/CD pipeline automation solutions (i.e. Selenium, Cucumber, Bamboo, Ant/Maven, Jenkins, New Relic, AppDynamics or comparable)
    • Application lifecycle management, collaboration and version control solutions including JIRA, Git/GitLab, or comparable
    • Hands-on knowledge with programming languages such as Java, .Net (C#) and nodeJS as well as associated tools and frameworks such as Maven, Spring, Express, etc.
  •  Experience with technical leadership and project management

  • Ability to effectively engage current and prospective customers to build trust and relationships, clearly communicate solutions and concepts, and influence action
  • Ability to write exceptionally and to create compliant and compelling narrative that best presents GDIT’s solutions and approaches within the government’s requirements and evaluation criteria
  • Ability to conceptualize and communicate or develop rich graphic visuals that help to strengthen the GDIT story and clearly and effectively communicate concepts and approaches
  • Ability to present compellingly and competently during public speaking events and engagements
  • Be the expert in the room for all modern application development strategies, architecture, management and operational topics
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%)

Desired Qualifications

  • Secret, TS or higher Clearance
  • Proposal color review leadership experience
  • Orals leadership and coaching experience
  • Basis of Estimate and competitive estimation strategy
  • Hands on experience implementing and/or supporting technologies such as:
    • Java/J2EE/JEE/.Net (C#) or comparable application architecture, design and development experience
    • Cloud-native application architecture and design experience including API and microservice architectures
    • Databases (SQL and NoSQL) and database release automation
    • Enterprise integration patterns
    • API gateways and service mesh architectures
    • Pipeline migrations to cloud-native and hybrid environments
    • Application and pipeline security (e.g. compliance as code, vulnerability scanning, continuous security and related concepts)
  • Knowledge in one or more of  the below technical areas is helpful
    • Site Reliability Engineering
    • Creative thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
    • Strong human relations skills
  • Industry Technical Certifications (Preferred) such as
    • Certified SAFe® 4 (e.g., SAFe Agile Software Engineering, SAFe for Architects, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Practitioner)
    • Amazon Certified Solution Architect
    • MS Certified Azure Solutions Architect
  • Experience leading one or more FEDSIM bids
