This position provides an excellent opportunity to combine ecotoxicology expertise with education or experience in biology, chemistry and/or environmental toxicology. Key SMAVCS3 consumers include EPA Office of Research and Development’s (ORD) Chemical Safety for Sustainability program, which integrates research on pesticides and toxics, endocrine disruptors, and computational toxicology; and EPA’s Office of Pesticides and Office of Pollutants and Toxicants risk assessment programs.

The primary responsibility, under general supervision of the project leader, is to curate ecotoxicology data for inclusion in the ECOTOXicology Knowledge Base (ECOTOX KB).


  • Bachelor's Degree plus two years of experience or Master's Degree in science related field; the preferred level of experience is a Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.    
  • Experience analyzing Environmental Toxicology data including experimental design and the application/ interpretation of statistical concepts
  • Familiarity with peer reviewed journal article and technical report formats.
  • Strong knowledge of common software applications, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe; general skills in learning and basic use of a wide-range of software including but not limited to bibliographic, statistical analysis, data plotting software.


  • Ability to read, interpret and apply guidelines, standard operating procedures, methodologies;
  • Experience synthesizing, interpreting and communicating scientific information;
  • Experience developing presentation materials, technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures; and
  • Ability to provide technical expertise to team members and users to help resolve project-related problems.
