Company combines discounts with mission expertise to maximize cloud savings
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, announced today that it has enabled the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to become the first federal agency to achieve cost savings from the General Services Administration’s OneGov program with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
GDIT operates and manages CMS’ Hybrid Cloud Products and Tools contract, one of the largest hybrid multi-clouds in the federal government underpinning systems that support more than 160 million Americans access health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and Marketplace programs. The company also provides cloud financial operations (FinOps) services which provide real-time visibility and forecasting into multi-cloud usage, enabling the agency to optimize operations and drive additional cost savings.
GDIT collaborated with AWS to rapidly onboard CMS to the OneGov program and transition new applications to the cloud, creating millions of dollars in taxpayer savings in less than 60 days. By combining OneGov savings with additional GDIT discounts and efficiencies gained through the company’s FinOps services, GDIT is helping create greater financial stability to support CMS’ ongoing digital modernization priorities that serve seniors and vulnerable populations.
“This milestone demonstrates how GDIT’s mission expertise and partnerships with commercial technology companies advances innovation at speed and scale for government agencies,” said Kamal Narang, GDIT’s senior vice president for Federal Health. “Enabling agencies to translate technology efficiencies into mission outcomes are at the core of what we do.
