Company named as a Top 10 Workplace for the third consecutive year

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it was named to The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces 2024 list. GDIT was ranked number seven among largest companies in the DC metro region.

“Receiving this award for the third consecutive year is a testament to our commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive and innovative culture at GDIT,” said Amy Gilliland, GDIT’s president. “We have made significant investments in benefits, professional development and wellness programs based on what employees have indicated is important to them. When employees feel like they are seen, heard and fully supported, they can bring their best to the mission.”

In addition to flexible work schedules and comprehensive health benefits, GDIT has significantly enhanced its commitment to employee well-being through the “How Are You, Really?” mental health awareness campaign, launched in fall 2021. Over the last two years, the company has added more resources to this program, including monthly webinars on emotional wellness, employee assistance programs, access to online therapy, mental health resource guides, mindfulness sessions and family support services. As a result of these efforts, in 2023 and 2024, GDIT received the Platinum Bell Seal award for workplace mental health from Mental Health America.

GDIT has also expanded its employee development and internal career mobility opportunities as part of its Technology Investment Strategy launched last year. The company has doubled its financial investments in technical training and tuition programs and quadrupled the number of certifications to help employees upskill in in-demand technologies such as AI, cyber and cloud. These initiatives have enabled more than 5,000 employees move internally in 2023 to take advantage of opportunities in these technology areas. Furthermore, the company launched a Digital Accelerator training program to educate its workforce on emerging technologies. To date, more than 20,000 employees have participated in the program.

The company’s nine Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), such as Ability First (Disability Inclusion), ForWARD (Women Empowerment) and Black Employee Network, have also helped create close-knit communities for employees. Through these ERGs, employees engage in safe space discussions, build connections, raise awareness about issues impacting their communities, and strive to make a daily impact in the workplace.

The Post award, given annually, is based on the results of an employee survey administered by an outside research and consulting firm. The survey focused on several critical drivers of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. More than 500 companies participated in this year’s contest.
