Job Description

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

The work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USSTRATCOM.  USSTRATCOM is a Combatant Command responsible for strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and enterprise IT services essential to national security. It oversees Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Global Strike, and Missile Threat Assessments, working closely with other Combatant Commands, Services, and defense agencies. SCITLS will be a key component that will ensure mission success and the safety of the U.S. and its allies by providing 24/7 IT services and network support for NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, and SAP/SAR environment.

You will play a crucial role in providing support in the following areas:

  • Authoring formal Requests for Change (RFCs) with comprehensive implementation and rollback plans, scheduling Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs), and executing technical tasks within approved maintenance windows
  • Managing and resolving assigned Tier I-III network incidents, service requests, and task orders within ServiceNow while creating/maintaining detailed troubleshooting documentation
  • Scheduling, testing, and performing operating system upgrades and security patches across Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS devices while validating pre- and post-upgrade operational stability
  • Auditing network switches and routers against DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) benchmarks, implementing required configuration hardening, and maintaining compliance documentation and vulnerability remediation tracking
  • Monitoring enterprise network health and telemetry alerts using platforms such as SolarWinds to proactively triage, diagnose, and resolve Tier I-III campus and datacenter connectivity issues
  • Assisting with firewall operations, recommending security rule modifications, and traffic troubleshooting across Palo Alto appliances
  • Troubleshoot Network Access Control (NAC) and authentication issues utilizing ForeScout, Cisco TACACS+, and RADIUS platforms
  • Assisting with the monitoring and operational maintenance of datacenter Cisco Nexus spine-leaf fabrics, routing, and VXLAN overlay environments
  • Supporting network hardware lifecycle initiatives, including hardware refresh planning, inventory auditing, tracking end-of-life/end-of-support assets, and sanitizing decommissioned gear
  • Creating, updating, and sustaining detailed physical and logical network diagrams and rack elevation schematics
  • Performing physical installations, including racking, cabling, labeling, and decommissioning network hardware across telecommunication closets and datacenter facilities
  • Executing technical infrastructure project tasks, hardware deployments, provisioning, and special assignments as directed by engineering leadership
  • Ability to perform after-hours work on an as-needed basis may be required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience: 8+ years of related experience
  • Required Certifications:
    • Security+ or DoD 8140 Compliant Certification
    • ITIL Foundations v4 Certificate or the ability to obtain within 9 mos
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Must have a current/active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI status
  • Location: Offutt AFB, NE
  • Hands-on experience configuring, administering, and updating enterprise and datacenter network devices running Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS
  • Direct experience reviewing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and applying STIGs to harden Cisco network infrastructure
  • Working knowledge or operational experience with enterprise firewalls, including Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS)
  • Practical experience administering or supporting Network Access Control (NAC) solutions and authentication protocols such as 802.1X, including ForeScout, TACACS+, and RADIUS
  • Familiarity with enterprise network monitoring and management systems (such as SolarWinds) for fault isolation and performance analysis
  • Foundational understanding of datacenter spine-leaf architecture, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP), and VXLAN overlay concepts
  • Experience supporting hardware lifecycle management, including equipment refreshes, inventory tracking, and device decommissioning
  • Demonstrated experience preparing change requests and executing work within scheduled Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs)
  • Experience developing and maintaining network topology diagrams and rack elevation layouts
  • Practical experience with physical hardware deployment, including racking, stacking, and copper/fiber cabling standards
  • Proven track record of supporting structured infrastructure project work, equipment cutovers, and directed technical tasks

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $97,968 - $129,375. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
