Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer will support Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) projects by providing and hands-on support in the design, implementation, and management of enterprise network infrastructure. This role works closely with other network engineers to deliver complex initiatives ensuring high availability, security, and performance of network systems. The ideal candidate is both a strong technical expert and a collaborative team player who can support and drive project success.

 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Support the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise LAN/WAN, Zscaler, and network security infrastructure
  • Work with a team of network engineers, working directly with client counterpart
  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems in support of secure and scalable network operations
  • Support RSA SecurID / RSA Authentication Manager solutions, including integration with VPNs, RADIUS, and enterprise authentication systems
  • Troubleshoot IPv4 and IPv6 network architectures, ensuring seamless integration and scalability across environments
  • Collaborate closely with team lead, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver complex network projects on time and within scope
  • Analyze customer and business requirements to develop technical solutions for complex networking challenges
  • Ensure network integrity, security, and compliance with federal and organizational policies, including backup and recovery capabilities
  • Monitor network performance using industry-leading tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues
  • Support in planning and executing network upgrades, enhancements, and technology refresh initiatives
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve network performance, security, and scalability
  • Support and coordinate procurement of network hardware, software, and vendor/subcontractor services as needed
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years' experience leading a team of network engineers and working directly with client counterpart
  • Experience supporting federal or enterprise-level IT environments
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years' experience with NetScaler Citrix – (A Must)
  • Strong experience in network engineering and architecture (LAN/WAN, routing/switching, firewalls, Zscaler)
  • Experience with RSA SecurID / RSA Authentication Manager and network authentication protocols (RADIUS, LDAP)
  • Experience with Cisco switches network software upgrades
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues
  • Vulnerability Remediation Process
  • Update technical documentation, maintaining & implementation of the SOP for network security
  • Cisco IPsec VPN troubleshooting
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  • SolarWinds automation scripts
  • Cisco ASA Firewall  5500 / Firepower  (A Must)
  • Palo Alto Firewalls Panorama
  • Azure experience with NSGs (Networking)
  • Analyzing PCAP Files using Wireshark
  • Change Management Process
  • TLS certificates renewals and installs
  • Troubleshooting using Riverbed, Grafana or Cribl, and other tools as available
  • Knowledge of Automation techniques and structure
  • Must be willing to work after hours and weekends during maintenance windows (onsite) as-needed (A Must) - approximately every 9 weeks

 

LOCATION: Rockville, MD (onsite)

 

CLEARANCE:

Ability to obtain a Public Trust: candidate must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years and pass a public trust background investigation.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $111,350 - $150,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
