Job Description

Please take this opportunity to join one of GDIT’s fastest growing and long-standing programs!  US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System Extended (US BICES-X) is a cutting-edge program supporting DoW intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.  This position affords the opportunity to mentor others and grow professionally both on your own and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Group Policy, and integrated services to ensure reliable authentication, authorization, and domain operations.
  • Administer DNS and DHCP services, including scope management, reservations, failover/high availability where applicable, and troubleshooting name resolution and IP assignment issues.
  • Manage Microsoft Key Management Service (KMS) for Windows/Server activation, including client activation troubleshooting and compliance reporting
  • Administer PKI/certificate services (e.g., AD CS) including certificate enrollment, renewal, revocation, and trust chain validation; integrate and operate with Hardware Security Modules (HSM) as required.
  • Administer Windows Server 2019 infrastructure services, including server build/configuration, patching, performance troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Support Terminal Servers / Remote Desktop Services (RDS), including session host configuration, performance tuning, and user access troubleshooting.
  • Manage enterprise file services and sharing, including DFS namespaces/replication, NTFS/share permissions, access controls, and availability considerations.
  • Manage Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and WSUS for Windows software deployment and patch compliance, including remediation of update failures and reporting against security requirements.
  • Oversee VMware vCenter and vSphere 8.0 environments, including ESXi host administration, VM provisioning, capacity/performance monitoring, and resource optimization.
  • Configure and support RHEL 8/9 servers, including installation, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting to maintain stability and security.
  • Utilize Puppet for configuration management and automation, ensuring consistent baseline configuration, drift control, and repeatable deployments.
  • Maintain and optimize Microsoft SQL Server 2019 databases, including performance tuning, backup/restore validation, and disaster recovery support.
  • Administer Dell IDPA DP 4400 (or equivalent) backup/data protection platform, ensuring successful backups, retention adherence, and recoverability testing.
  • Perform STIG assessments and implement required configurations to maintain compliance with cybersecurity standards and best practices across Windows, Linux, virtualization, and supporting services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions for complex technical requirements, incidents, and planned infrastructure changes.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and security threats; recommend and implement improvements to reliability, security posture, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of IT Systems Engineering and Administration experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and additional experience)
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Active DoW 8140-compliant certification (formerly DoW 8570) (required), such as CompTIA Security+ CE, CySA+, CASP+, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy in enterprise environments (domain controllers, GPO design/management, DNS configuration and troubleshooting)
  • Proven experience administering VMware vCenter and VMware ESXi, including VM lifecycle management, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience administering enterprise backup/data protection solutions, such as Dell IDPA DP 4400 or equivalent backup appliances, including backup validation and restore operations.
  • Working knowledge of RSA Authentication Manager (Enterprise) to support multi-factor authentication and access control implementations.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019, including. installation/configuration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies
  • Microsoft certification (or equivalent) related to Windows Server administration (e.g., Windows Server-focused certification track or current Microsoft role-based certification aligned to Windows Server/hybrid administration)

Preferred Qualifications:                 

  • PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and/or Windows Server-focused Microsoft certification.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $140,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
