As a Senior Data Engineer, you will architect, develop, and maintain secure, scalable data platforms and applications supporting USAREUR-AF mission systems. This role emphasizes software development, ETL/ELT engineering, API development, workflow automation, ontology modeling, and cloud-native application integration.

You will embed governance practices into operational systems through code-driven workflows within Maven Smart Systems (MSS) such as Palantir Foundry environments, or other tools such as Apache NiFi and associated data repositories, ensuring enterprise data is trusted, interoperable, secure, and mission-ready.

How a Senior Data Engineer will make an impact:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain data-centric applications and services supporting mission and enterprise systems.

  • Engineer and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, normalize, and load structured and semi-structured data across Army and DoD platforms.

  • Develop and manage workflows within Maven Smart Systems (MSS) and Palantir Foundry, including ontology design, object modeling, and pipeline automation.

  • Integrate data governance controls, metadata standards, access policies, and classification requirements directly into engineered workflows and services.

  • Develop RESTful APIs, web services, and event-driven integrations to enable real-time and near-real-time data exchange.

  • Deploy and manage applications within containerized and cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Conduct data process mapping and optimize information flows across mission systems, business systems, and external partners.

  • Support metadata management, data lineage tracking, master data management, and enterprise data catalog initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Army and DoD data governance frameworks, cybersecurity standards, and data protection requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including data stewards, system owners, developers, and leadership to resolve interoperability and data quality challenges.

  • Participate in Theater-level enterprise data working groups and governance boards supporting analytics strategy and operational integration.
