TRAINING SPECIALIST

Integrated Launch and Recovery Television Surveillance (ILARTS)

GDIT - Military Education Program is seeking qualified applicants for the position of ILARTS Instructor. 

Description: This individual will be an Internal Communications subject matter expert/instructor as part of a multi-instructor workforce providing instruction in the courses listed below.  This individual will report to the Instructor Leader at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL.  This individual must have a minimum of three  years of instructing experience to include:  series and parallel circuits; analyze the operation of RC, RL, and RLC circuits; interpret schematic diagrams; use electronic test equipment; observe safety precautions; troubleshoot faults in electrical circuits; set up and operate a closed circuit television system; maintain, disassemble, repair, adjust, and re-assemble video cameras; operate and maintain video recorders; troubleshoot video system faults; select and use appropriate transmission lines and cables; analyze block diagrams of electronic systems; isolate faults within electronic systems; use electronic test equipment; troubleshoot electronic systems in a logical manner; correct faults in electronic systems; observe safety precautions; analyze digital television systems; understand the operational concepts for digital gates and combinational digital circuits; perform analysis of digital components for correct operation; perform corrective maintenance on digital system components; and maintain audio and video recording equipment.

Methods of Instruction: to include audiovisual materials, discussion, laboratory, lecture, and practical exercises. General course topics include DC electricity, AC electricity, semiconductor components and circuits, television and video theory, closed circuit television system, and troubleshooting and repair techniques.

Methods of Assessment: to include examinations and performance tests. Additionally, the candidate should be an expert in the delivery of both classroom and practical lab instruction.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Required Qualification:

  • Three Years’ Instructor Experience in a Navy Training environment
  • NEC 9502/805A

Preferred Experience:

  • Master Training Specialist

Desired Competencies:

AC/DC circuits topics include AC circuit analysis; capacitance, inductance, and reactance; DC circuit analysis; electrical safety; Kirchhoff’s voltage and current laws; Ohm’s law; RC, RL, and RLC circuits; schematic diagrams; and series and parallel circuits. Closed circuit television topics include CCTV radio frequency, digital compression, digital video, television modulation, television theory, transmission lines, video cameras, video monitors, video recorders, and video transmission. Electronic systems troubleshooting and maintenance topics include block diagram analysis, circuit analysis, component identification, corrective maintenance, electronic system troubleshooting, safety, system block diagrams, television, and use of test equipment. Digital logic topics include combination circuits, digital logic gates, logic probes and diagnostic programs, multiplexing, number systems, registers, switching, and timing circuits.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $59,500 - $80,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
