Job Description

Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Human Subjects Protection Scientist Operations Specialist to support the Office of Research and Regulatory Compliance (ORRC) at Defense Health Agency Research & Development (DHA R&D). As a Human Subjects Protection Scientist Operations Specialist our work depends on ensuring that DHA conducted, contracted, sponsored, supported or managed research, and U.S. Army Medical Command investigations involving human subjects, human anatomical substances or animals are conducted in accordance with Federal, DoD, and international regulatory requirements.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Assists with the onboarding and training of new staff members by preparing training materials, scheduling orientation sessions, and providing guidance on office procedures, administrative tools, and relevant policies
  • Supports the management of office supplies and equipment including inventory management, ordering and tracking supplies, and coordinating maintenance and repair of office equipment
  • Assists in the preparation and compilation of routine and ad-hoc reports for leadership, including data calls and information requests, by retrieving, organizing, and presenting data from various sources
  • Supports the management and tracking of deadlines for requested actions to include report submissions, tasker and OPORD suspense dates, and training requirements, to ensure timely completion and compliance with all regulatory and organizational timelines
  • Provide logistical and operational support for ORRC conference attendance and exhibit booth activities including pre-conference planning and coordination, during the conference to include assisting in the management of all on-site activities, and post-conference coordination including return shipment of all materials and preparation of comprehensive after-action reports, as required
  • Will submit and track all help desk tickets for information technology (IT) and building-related issues using the designated systems to ensure timely resolution
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support to the Building Manager, assisting with daily operational tasks, coordinating maintenance requests, and facilitating communications to ensure efficient facility operations
  • Assist the Director, ORRC and the Office Manager in other relevant duties, as requested.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience
  • Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience
  • Required Technical Skills: Experience with generating and modifying SOPs; experience with orienting new hires; experience working with scientific and government staff; experience with compliance review and modifying scientific documents as needed
  • Attributes for Success: Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff; Possess excellent organizational skills and professional conduct and businesslike manner, meticulous attention to detail, committed to helping build and sustain team success; Ability to track multiple tasks and review actions; excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Preferred Skills: 4+ years’ experience in a scientific field
  • Location: Hybrid – work 1 day onsite at Ft Detrick (Frederick, MD)
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Security Clearance Level: Must be clearable for a Public Trust

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $55,806 - $72,450. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
