How an Network Operations Manager makes an impact:

  • Collaborates directly with AF client on planning and procedures
  • Leads a high-octane team of highly skilled engineers, providing direction, support, and mentorship as necessary
  • Drives client-directed efforts to implement planned changes and procedures
  • Performs root cause analysis to determine the source of roadblocks; identifies paths forward to adapt and overcome any challenges
  • Troubleshoot complex, expert-level network issues and provide knowledge support to other engineers as necessary
  • Participates in network software upgrades, as well as certificate renewals and installs
  • Updates technical documentation; maintains and implements SOPs for network security
  • Works after-hours and weekends during maintenance windows on-site as needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in a related field. (Will consider 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree) and 5+ years in related experience as an Operations Manager in a networking environment.
  • Required Experience:
    • Must meet 8140 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
    • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and collaborative skills
    • Thorough knowledge of ITSM best practices and supporting systems
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work.
    • Experience working directly with hardware vendors involved in the incident resolution process.
    • Experience with various software systems and architectures, communications protocols: and network hardware devices.
    • NOC/SOC operations background – you've been in the trenches and know what works
    • Incident management expertise with a track record of managing complex, multi-team responses
    • Scripting abilities for automation and efficiency improvements
    • Demonstrated experience in managing around-the-clock operations ensuring services are maintained at SLA levels.
    • Experience with operations and administration of multiple network vendor systems
  • Security Clearance Level:  active Secret Level Clearance required
  • Required Certifications to obtain: CISM or 8140 equivalent (CASP+, CCNA CCNP Security, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, CISA, CISSP, GSLC) within 60 days of hire
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Experience as a team leader or manager
    • Experience with change management processes and best practices
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills applied to the development and presentation of technical materials appropriate to a broad spectrum of audiences.
    • Adept at interfacing with Government at senior leader levels to represent the interests of GDIT

Preferred Skills:

  • 10+ years management of local team and part of an Enterprise NOC
  • ITIL V3/4 Foundation or higher

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $101,546 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
