Job Description

At GDIT, people are our differentiators. Our work depends on a Junior Business Analyst joining our team to assist the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA) in managing its appeals workloads.

As a Junior Business Analyst supporting the DevSecOps team that maintains a Medicare appeals/claims platform, you will help ensure that American citizens have access to important services. The Junior Business Analyst collaborates with the DevSecOps team, PMO, client Product Owner, and other stakeholders to ensure complete communication loops, that information in Jira tickets is current in nearly real-time, that documentation is updated at appropriate intervals, and that they participate in Agile ceremonies fully.

HOW THE JUNIOR BUSINESS ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Support client stakeholders, contract leadership, the product owner, the Lead Business Analyst, and the DevSecOps team to gather and analyze business requirements, write user stories, manage and identify functional requirements, and participate in agile ceremonies.
  • Understand the current "as-is" platform and its business processes and workflows.
  • Approach user stories with curiosity, asking questions about how each user story or task fit into the larger picture to identify dependencies, related tasks, and hidden requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and issues early in the project lifecycle and follow PMO processes to report them.
  • Support improvements to improve the overall project and our ways of working, tightening up agile processes and improving the quality of client-facing reporting.
  • Help define the scope of each release and support the creation of documentation to ensure repeatable processes across all areas of DevSecOps.
  • Provide detailed documentation including user stores, use cases and functional specifications to serve as reference to developers.
  • Define acceptance criteria and work with QA to verify the product meets the business requirements.
  • Collaborate with the development and QA teams to continuously improve processes, fill in gaps in development or testing processes, and help support successful releases and patches.
  • Verify and validate product features and requirements to ensure that they meet acceptance criteria.
  • Define standards related to user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements alongside the Scrum Master and enforce them.

WHAT YOU'LL NEEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management using tools including Jira.
  • 2+ years’ experience in business analysis and systems development.
  • 1+ years with Agile methodologies and project management using tools including Jira.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with managing project requirements.
  • Experience creating reports and supporting presentations to communicate sprint status, sprint planning status, and other development-related reports.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts and workflows to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of and ability to communicate diagrams and documentation to that represent complex architectural concepts.
  • Understanding of data integrity, data privacy, and compliance.
  • Business level understanding of low code application platforms, and best practices.

SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:

  • Ability to pass HHS and company background check to obtain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.

GDIT IS YOUR PLACE:

  • 401K with company match.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness packages.
  • Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career.
  • Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications.
  • Cutting-edge technology you can learn from.
