MECHANICAL ENGINEER ASSOCIATE

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Mechanical Engineer Associate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge unmanned maritime systems and advanced sensor technologies for the U.S. Navy. Your work will directly support national security and help shape the future of naval warfare. This is an opportunity to apply your engineering skills to solve complex challenges in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

  • Assist in the design, development, and prototyping of mechanical and electrical components for unmanned systems and sensor payloads using CAD software and other design tools. 
  • Support the integration of hardware and software components, including sensors, communication systems, and control systems, into unmanned platforms. 
  • Participate in the planning and execution of system tests, both in laboratory and real-world environments, to verify system performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with unmanned systems and sensors. Perform maintenance and repair of system components as needed. 
  • Collect and analyze data from system tests and in-field operations to evaluate performance and inform future design iterations.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and operational procedures.



WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Mechanical Engineer Associate must have:


Education: Bachelor of Science

Strong foundation in engineering principles, mathematics, and physics. 

Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or C++. 

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Role requirements: Work location is at the customer's facility. Up to 10% travel may be required.
