MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Mechanical Engineer Associate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge unmanned maritime systems and advanced sensor technologies for the U.S. Navy. Your work will directly support national security and help shape the future of naval warfare. • Assist in the design, development, and prototyping of mechanical and electrical components for unmanned systems and sensor payloads using CAD software and other design tools. 
• Support the integration of hardware and software components, including sensors, communication systems, and control systems, into unmanned platforms. 
• Participate in the planning and execution of system tests, both in laboratory and real-world environments, to verify system performance and identify areas for improvement. 
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with unmanned systems and sensors. Perform maintenance and repair of system components as needed. 
• Collect and analyze data from system tests and in-field operations to evaluate performance and inform future design iterations.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and operational procedures.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Mechanical Engineer Associate must have:

Education: Bachelor of Science

Strong foundation in engineering principles, mathematics, and physics. 

Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or C++. 

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Role requirements: Work location is at the customer's facility. Up to 10% travel may be required.
