Job Description

Join GDIT to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the NEDIIS program. As the Telecom Transition Manager, you will lead the coordinated transition of network and telecommunications services from the outgoing contractor into steady‑state GDIT operations. This role ensures a smooth, controlled, and fully documented handoff to support VA OIT’s mission‑critical infrastructure.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead the end‑to‑end transition of network and telecom services with minimal service disruption.

  • Review existing technical and operational documentation to understand requirements and workflows.

  • Participate in knowledge‑transfer activities and learn tools, SOPs, and processes from the outgoing contractor.

  • Ensure access, accounts, and onboarding steps are completed for a successful transition.

  • Oversee development of transition materials such as runbooks, SOPs, and readiness checklists.

  • Coordinate with engineering, NOC, operations, and security teams to prepare TIC, SD‑WAN, WAN/LAN, and telecom services for production.

  • Support high‑level troubleshooting and escalation needs during transition.

  • Communicate transition progress, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders.

  • Contribute to vendor evaluations, technology assessments, and pilot activities.

  • Mentor team members and promote best practices in transition planning.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience delivering telecom or IT services for large or complex organizations.

  • Experience leading service transitions, migrations, or operational handoffs.

  • Familiarity with WAN/LAN, SD‑WAN, telecom services, or cloud‑connected networking.

  • Understanding of basic ITIL service transition concepts and NOC workflows.

  • Experience developing SOPs, runbooks, or transition documentation.

  • General knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, TIC, Zero Trust).

  • Strong communication and coordination skills across technical and business teams.

Desired (Not Required)

  • PMP

  • ITIL Foundation / ITIL 4

  • CCNA / CCNP

  • SAFe or Scrum Master

  • AWS or Azure certification

Security & Location

  • • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

  • • Hybrid role based in Martinsburg, WV or Austin, TX and must be onsite a few days per week.

  • • Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
