Job Description

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cyber Security Directorate (CSD) is leading one of the most comprehensive, mission critical cybersecurity operations in the federal government—protecting the digital infrastructure that safeguards America’s borders. This multifaceted program spans 24/7/365 Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring, advanced threat intelligence, forensics, incident response, cloud and network security engineering, zero trust modernization, vulnerability assessment, and enterprise-wide risk and compliance activities. The Management Analyst Junior will support teams at the forefront of national security, supporting sophisticated cyber operations that defend vital systems, enable secure mission execution, and counter rapidly evolving threats. You will find this work uniquely impactful, fast-paced, and deeply collaborative, offering the opportunity to lead high performing technical teams, shape CBP’s cybersecurity strategy, and contribute directly to the protection of the nation.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

The Asset Management Analyst Junior contributes to maintaining asset inventories and ensuring accurate records. In this mission critical leadership position, you will:

  • Operate within a cybersecurity‑focused mission environment, ensuring that asset data remains reliable for operational and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and update asset inventories to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with asset lifecycle tracking (procurement, deployment, maintenance, disposition).
  • Validate discovered hardware and software assets.
  • Support asset reconciliation efforts and help resolve data discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing asset management reports.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum of three (3) year of professional relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience performing routine asset record updates, correct discrepancies, and validate system‑discovered assets to maintain authoritative data sources.
  • Foundational understanding of asset management processes, databases, or discovery tools (training provided as needed).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy across large datasets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of asset databases or CMDB structures.
  • Preferred certifications:
    • ITIL Foundations
    • CHAMP (Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional)
    • CompTIA A+ (for hardware familiarity)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Previous or Current CBP Background Investigation desired.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $66,725 - $90,275. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
