SCSTC Mk-18 UUV Trainer and Maintainer at Mine Warfare Training Center (MWTC)

GDIT is actively seeking a Trainer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mk-18 Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs).  Develop, organize, and conduct basic and advanced classroom instruction and hands on training on how to operate, maintain, and employ Mk-18 MOD 1 and MOD 2 UUV Family of Systems (FoS).  Training includes the use of mission planning/execution software, advanced UUV tactics, data collection, and processing SONAR data for Post Mission Analysis (PMA).  When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development/maintenance for Mk-18 courses. May also be required to assist with other Mine Warfare (MIW) related curriculum efforts and/or deliver training on behalf of MWTC’s MIW courses of instruction as required by your Site Lead and/or Manager.

HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Must be prepared to support training and evaluation utilizing a shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of students in individual and team training events.
• Must be prepared to support training and evaluation in-water operations, as a small boat crew member conducting safe launch and recovery evolutions.
• Prepares, reviews, and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
• Supports Formal Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates, conducts training gap analysis and provides formal feedback/recommendations for Course improvement.
• Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers moderately complex Navy Mine Warfare training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives.
• Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.
• Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
• Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
• Primary MWTC Mk-18 instruction includes UUV Family of Systems Familiarization, Post Mission Analysis, System Operation, and System Maintenance.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Associates/bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications: Seven (7) years of experience with Mine Warfare (MIW)/Mine Counter-Measures (MCM), EXCMCM and/or UUV systems as either a maintenance technician supervisor or operator supervisor with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment.  Of the seven years, one (1) year of experience as an Instructor/Trainer in a Navy Training Environment, to include presentation skills, public speaking, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction.

Experience as an Instructor/Trainer and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.  

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.  

Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

Active Secret Security Clearance.
