QUANTUM COMPUTER SCIENTIST

As a Quantum Computer Scientist, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that meet the needs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s large-scale conversion for a suite of Java applications from local servers to AWS servers.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT


As a Quantum Computer Scientist, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You will play a crucial role in

  • Help design, develop, evaluate, plan, and test engineering specifications for software programs and applications
  • Help set up local workspace with Spring Tool Suite and cloned code repositories to be able to apply changes using BitBucket as version control (CI/CD pipelines)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Design and develop cloud-based applications using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies, Python, and other program languages
  • Remove old Struts Framework Code and Tag Libraries from Java and JSP files
  • Update Project Object Model (POM) files and XML configuration files to bring dependencies up to the necessary new version
  • Run Maven commands for building and testing new codes
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Consult business process owners to evaluate process improvement opportunities and potential technology solutions


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED


Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Quantum Computer Scientist must have:

  • Education: BS in Computer Science or relevant
  • Years of Experience: 3+ years of related experience
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Experience in cloud-based applications using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies
    • Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to develop and manage concurrent projects
    • Proven strong communication skills to translate technical software solutions to non-technical clients
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desired Programming Tools:
    • Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes a plus.
    • AWS (Lambda), Javascript, Git, C++, Java, SQL
    • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Clearance: Public Trust (USDA clearance)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $73,965 - $97,859. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
