GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer to support Enterprise Transport Management (ETM) operations at the Pentagon. This is a full-time onsite role requiring active TS/SCI clearance. The Network Engineer reviews, designs, and supports IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance of mission‑critical DoD networks. This role involves network design, configuration, optimization, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management across diverse vendor technologies.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:
As a Network Engineer supporting ETM, you will be trusted to review and evaluates information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design, plan, configure, and implement LAN/WAN networks, routing, switching, and firewalls.
Deploy and maintain routers, switches, VPN concentrators, remote access systems, and network servers.
Serve as a senior escalation point (Tier 3+) for complex transport, optical, crypto, and routing/switching issues.
Monitor network health, performance, and capacity; perform proactive maintenance and upgrades.
Maintain network integrity, documentation, SOPs, topologies, and backup/recovery capabilities.
Evaluate and integrate new communications technologies.
Lead or mentor less‑experienced network personnel.
Utilize ITSM ticketing systems for workflow management and detailed technical documentation.
Support DoD‑specific network environments and comply with security baselines and policies.
Perform lifecycle management including patching, firmware, and hardware refreshes.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED - REQUIRED:
Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
Certifications:
IAT Level II certification
One of the following Networking Certifications - Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP)
Year's Experience: 5+ years of experience in network administration
Education: Bachelors’ Degree in a related field, OR work experience in lieu of degree.
Technical Skills:
Must have hands-on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems
Strong knowledge of routing protocols and L3 configurations
Location: Willing to report full-time onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years overall experience, including:
5+ years leading installs, troubleshooting, and operations of network devices
5+ years designing and architecting routed/switch networks
3+ years in DoD environments
Expertise with routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching (VLANs, STP, VxLAN), and multi‑tenant and virtualized network architectures
Experience with scripting (Perl, Python) for automation and event handling
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level III certification
Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
