Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Lead System Engineer to provide support for globally dispersed, state-of-the-art systems built on Microsoft technologies. The ideal candidate will be experienced in large-scale system design, cloud infrastructure solutions, and team leadership. This role blends technical expertise with strategic execution, aligning service level management strategies with organizational goals while optimizing performance across Windows Server and Azure/M365 environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy multi-domain Windows Server environments across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with teams to define technical requirements, design solutions, and resolve complex system challenges. 
  • Oversee geographically dispersed WAN-connected systems ensuring availability and security. 
  • Apply project management and IT processes to deliver user-facing services efficiently. 
  • Architect and Manage Cloud Infrastructure
  • Lead operational activities in service optimization
  • Provide guidance to engineering team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and technical goals. 
  • Implement automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for streamlined deployments and operations. 
  • Ensure system compliance with security guidelines
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex IT projects and user-facing services. 
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of mentoring technical teams. 
  • Adept in aligning service levels and IT operations to organizational objectives for continuous improvement. 
  • Effective communicator skilled at translating technical requirements into actionable strategies. 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong operational knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and solutions. 
  • Experience in designing secure cloud infrastructures within Azure IL4/IL5 environments. 
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell for automation and deployment optimization. 
  • Deep understanding of Windows Server environments (2016/2019) and features including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Distributed File System (DFS). 
  • Knowledge of security configurations such as DISA STIGs, CIS benchmarks, or Azure Security standards. 

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related Technical Field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM))  

Desired Certifications:  IT process improvement and/or capability frameworks (e.g., ITILv4, Control Objectives for Information and related Technology  (COBIT), International Standards Organization (ISO)),  CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification

Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

The successful candidate will have at least seven plus (7+) years’ experience with three plus (3+) years of specialized experience with hands-on software and network engineering, demonstrated track record of complex system design, project management/delivery, cloud infrastructure, delivering complex IT user facing services,  DevSecOps, and team leadership

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
