At GDIT, people are our differentiators. As an AWS Cloud Solutions Architect, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in designing, deploying, and optimizing solutions on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, including experience with AWS native AI/ML services, serverless architectures, and cloud-first migration and modernization patterns. Experience in designing and implementing solutions for Data Warehousing, Data and Analytical programs in the cloud is required. Experience with migrating on-prem Data Warehouse and Business Objects to the cloud is also required. Experience across multiple cloud providers is a plus. This individual will play a critical role in architecting secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments tailored to our customers’ requirements.

HOW A CLOUD ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Architects, designs, and implements cloud native solutions leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and AI/ML offerings including Bedrock, SageMaker, and Amazon Q.

  • Defines cloud architectures for new and existing systems, emphasizing automation, cost efficiency, and mission resilience.

  • Provides strategic guidance to shape cloud adoption, modernization roadmaps, and market-aligned solution offerings.

  • Builds secure, scalable multi-account environments following AWS Well-Architected, Zero Trust, and industry security frameworks.

  • Leads the design and automation of DevSecOps pipelines, integrating CI/CD, policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and automated testing.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, translate mission needs into robust technical solutions, and integrate cloud security at every layer.

  • Works with cloud governance to ensure NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 controls are implemented and documented, including IAM best practices, data protection, encryption, and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, DoD, and NIST.

  • Mentors engineering teams on cloud-native design patterns, AI/ML solution integration, and secure automation practices.

  • Participates in proposal development, ensuring technical solutions are innovative, compliant, and aligned with emerging government requirements.

  • Continuously evaluates emerging technologies including generative AI, container security, edge computing, and automated governance to enhance cloud strategy and accelerate delivery.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of applicable experience.

  • Extensive experience designing and deploying AWS-based solutions through infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Ability to work effectively in both a collaborative team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
