Job Description

Toolroom Technician

Position Summary

The Toolroom Technician is responsible for receiving, issuing, maintaining, and organizing tools, equipment, and related supplies. This role requires a mechanically inclined individual who can inspect tools for wear or damage, perform minor repairs and adjustments, and support production and maintenance teams by ensuring the right tools are available, calibrated, and in safe working

condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, organize, and inventory all tools, equipment, and supplies in the toolroom.
  • Issue and track tools and equipment to employees using a sign-out or inventory system.
  • Inspect tools and equipment for damage, wear, and proper operation; perform minor mechanical repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinate tool sharpening, calibration, and more complex repairs with internal maintenance or external vendors.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are stored safely and properly to prevent loss, damage, or accidents.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering new tools, replacement parts, and consumables.
  • Keep accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and calibration schedules.
  • Assist production, maintenance, and engineering teams with tool selection and troubleshooting.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free toolroom.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to tooling, processes, and organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a mechanical field preferred.
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Prior experience in a toolroom, warehouse, maintenance, machine shop, or similar environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, machining tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings, manuals, and specifications (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use computer-based inventory or tracking systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and move tools and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift moderately heavy items throughout the shift.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or shop environment with appropriate PPE.

Work Environment

  • Toolroom, shop, or production environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and moving equipment.
  • Use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes as required.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $20.24 - $26.45. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
