Job Description

DEVOPS ENGINEER

Transform technology into opportunity as a DevOps Engineer at GDIT. Join a mission-focused team dedicated to modernizing critical medical logistics applications for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). As a Software Developer, you will play a key role in transforming legacy systems into modern, secure, and efficient agile DevSecOps solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for a developer with a foundational skill set who is passionate about learning and applying modern DevSecOps principles, automation, and containerization technologies in a real-world environment.

Job Description:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to develop, test, and deploy new features for web applications using technologies like C#, .NET, and Angular.
  • Work with software architects, project leads, and business analysts to transform legacy applications to modern software technology that adheres to DevSecOps and Agile principles.
  • Contribute to team’s Agile and DevSecOps culture by participating in scrums and sprint planning.
  • Assist lead architect with conversion of legacy operations to containerized solutions (Docker and Kubernetes) to ensure efficient deployment and scaling of microservices.
  • Help integrate security into the DevOps pipeline (DevSecOps), including vulnerability scanning (SonarQube, Fortify), secrets management, and compliance auditing.
  • Help build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and release processes.
  • Support application development teams with creation of business capabilities using middle-tier and database software technologies (C#, PL-SQL, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and rapidly come up to speed on one or more of the software development tools and technologies currently used on the program.
  • Collaborate with other application support and infrastructure engineers, software developers, and business analysts to evolve technology and support the medical supply chain operations.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Technology Environment:

  • Languages and Frameworks: C#, JavaScript, .NET MVC, Angular

  • Database: Oracle (PL-SQL), Toad SQL Editor

  • Version Control: Azure DevOps Server 2022, Visual Studio 2026

  • Additional Technologies: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen. Must be able to achieve a NACLC clearance.

  • Location: Northeast Philadelphia. You will be required to be on site at client facility each Wednesday. This on-site requirement could increase at the government’s discretion.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum 2 year of related experience.

  • Foundational knowledge of object-oriented software language (e.g., C#, Java)

  • Familiarity with web-based applications development concepts.

  • A strong aptitude to learn and grow in the areas of automation, cloud computing, and DevSecOps.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C#, .NET MVC and/or Angular.

  • Exposure to version control systems like TFS, Visual Studio, Git.

  • Prior experience in a DoD or government contracting environment.

  • Military Medical Supply Chain experience is a big plus. 

  • Experience with at least several of the areas below or similar technologies

    • CI/CD concepts or tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins)

    • DevOps services using infrastructure as a service provider (e.g., Microsoft Azure)

    • Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

    • Version Control and Collaboration (Git/GitHub/GitLab)

    • Configuration management tools (e.g., TFS, Jira)

    • Static code analysis tools (SonarQube, Fortify)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $96,050 - $129,950. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
