This role blends software engineering, cloud platform engineering, DevOps automation, and operational troubleshooting to deliver scalable, resilient, and cost‑efficient cloud solutions. The Cloud Engineer collaborates closely with Agile development teams, supports customer mission needs, and ensures alignment with enterprise best practices, governance requirements, and platform standards. This role is essential to ensuring reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement of cloud capabilities across the enterprise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a technical SME in cloud‑native software, cloud platforms, DevOps, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC).
  • Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud‑based systems and services using languages such as Python, Java, C++, or Ruby.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to ensure high‑quality, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Build and maintain AWS solutions (e.g., S3, RDS, EC2, ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS) using CloudFormation and related IaC/automation frameworks.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub and Jenkins; containerize and automate workloads using Docker and Ansible.
  • Use open‑source technologies and systems engineering practices to design and implement cloud solutions.
  • Identify and resolve cloud infrastructure, performance, and deployment issues; recommend improvements for scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure cloud solutions align with customer best practices, architectural guidance, and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams and customers to gather requirements, provide cloud support, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Design, integrate, and maintain web services and RESTful APIs to support interoperability and data exchange.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud‑native applications and services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or Ruby.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS services including S3, RDS, EC2, ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and CloudFormation.
  • Practical experience implementing Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using CloudFormation or similar automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated build/deployment workflows.
  • Experience with containerization and automation tools such as Docker and Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, integration patterns, and web‑service architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, application deployments, and performance issues.
  • Experience working within Agile Scrum teams and contributing to iterative delivery cycles.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting COTS/GOTS applications across Windows and Linux environments hosted on AWS.
  • Familiarity with Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes and security/compliance artifact development.
  • Exposure to system engineering practices, open‑source technologies, and cloud governance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, AWS SysOps Administrator, or equivalent cloud/DevOps credentials.
